Presidents Message

Dear Members,

My name is ERNIE FERNANDES and I am president of the Goan Overseas Association (GOA) here in Vancouver. I would like to thank you for believing in me and entrusting “your club” into the hands of my executive and myself.

The GOA-Vancouver celebrates 40 years this year and has come along way from its conception in 1976.

Many of our founder members are well into their 80 years and some of who have passed on. This year we will not be holding the “Nite in Goa” dance in October but replacing it with the 40th Anniversary Dance. The celebrations have already started-please refer to the GOA websites for the dates and times of the events leading to the Anniversary Dance in October 29th, 2016.

Our family day afternoons are currently on the first Sunday of every month and as summer has arrived, we will utilize the inside and the park areas for activities at the Queensborough Community Center in New Westminster.

Our mission as a Goan organization is to promote the Goan heritage and foster a caring community. As part of our mission, we continue to assist and develop community spirit, help new immigrants, organize homeless lunches for about 300 people at least twice a year and provide assistance to our youth and seniors in compliance with our constitution.

We your Executive, are looking to conduct a coach trip to the Okanagan sometime in August/September for a wine tasting and fruit picking weekend. Anyone with information of coaches, buses or hotels (B&B) please contact any member of the executive with your feedback. If you would also like to coordinate this event, please respond.

We honestly believe that together we can make this happen, but importantly your executive needs your input and support.

Thank you Sincerely,

Ernie Fernandes, President
