Awards & Scholarships
The Goan Overseas Association, Vancouver, offers five annual awards and scholarships to members and their children. Members must be in good standing.
Applications are now being accepted for the following scholarships and bursaries:
- Goan Overseas Association Vancouver Scholarship;
- Carnival Cultural Club Scholarship;
- Realtor Glen Scholarship;
- Kevin McLaren, Hammerberg Lawyers Scholarship; and
- Rudy and Lydia D’Souza Bursary.
Application deadline is September 30, 2019 by 11:59 PM.

For individuals applying to multiple awards and scholarships, submit a separate application form for each award or scholarship.
Please do not submit original supporting documents as these documents will not be returned.
Terms of References for each Award and Scholarship
Goan Overseas Association, Vancouver Scholarship – $500 (one available)
- Applicants shall display a high all round achievement in academics and community (including sports) involvement.
- Each applicant shall submit one school reference (either teacher and/or principal) or one community reference letter attesting to his/her ability with reference to the above.
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time at any recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. Attach proof of registration.
- Proof of registration at an institution in the form of a tuition receipt for the year of enrollment shall be submitted at the time of application.
- Applicants shall currently be a member of the association in their third or further year of membership, a child of a member who is in their third year or further of membership, or a combination of each scenario exceeding three or further years of membership.
Carnival Cultural Club Scholarship – $250 (one available)
- Applicants shall display a high, all round achievement in academics and community (including sports) involvement.
- Each applicant shall submit one school reference (either teacher and/or principal) or one community reference letter attesting to his/her ability with reference to the above.
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time at any recognized Canadian post-secondary institution in a program focused on music, theatre, media arts, or visual arts (e.g., digital media, film televisions, and sound recording). Attach proof of registration.
- Proof of registration at an institution in the form of a tuition receipt for the year of enrollment shall be submitted at the time of application.
RealtorGlen Scholarship – $300 (one available)
- Applicants shall display excellence, and promise in music, sports, or arts.
2. Applicants must be enrolled in elementary or secondary school for the coming year at the time of application.
3. Applicant may submit one school reference (either teacher and/or principal) or one community reference letter attesting to his/her ability with reference to the above.
Kevin McLaren, Hammerberg Lawyers Scholarship – $300 (one available)
- Applicants must demonstrate their interest to study in a field with a focus on helping other people and or demonstrate their previous, or ongoing, community or volunteer work as a means of helping other people.
- Applicants shall submit a school (either teacher and/or principal) or community reference letter.
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time at any recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Proof of registration at an institution in the form of a tuition receipt for the year of enrollment shall be submitted at the time of application.
Rudy and Lydia D’Souza Bursary – $500 (one available)
- Applicants shall state a financial need to pursuing educational programs; educational cost to cover additional text books; or demonstrated travel cost.
- Applicants shall display a high, all round achievement in academics and community service.
- Applicants shall submit a school (either teacher and/or principal) or community reference letter.
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time at any recognized Canadian post-secondary institution, or in a program which requires overseas travel. Attach proof of registration.
- Proof of registration at an institution in the form of a tuition receipt for the year of enrolment should be submitted.
